RONRONEO HOUSE

RESIDENCE2023

A home designed to experience the Yucatán jungle while living in the heart of the city.

Nature is not simply an element surrounding the house, but an integral part of the living experience. The tropical gardens create their own microclimate, and over time, the vegetation grows, changes, and continuously transforms each space.

Natural materials and tones blend into the landscape while contrasting with the lush greenery outside. Inside, generous ceiling heights and tall, vertical windows extend the view toward the garden and allow the changing light throughout the day to become part of the experience.

Light also shapes the space. Through multiple openings, sunlight casts shadows that move across the walls, creating different compositions depending on the time of day and the season: ever-changing paintings of light that are never repeated.

A stone pathway winds organically through the gardens, guiding movement alongside the vegetation. The screened terrace serves as an intermediate space, almost like a greenhouse, where indoor and outdoor environments meet and plant life remains ever-present.

The house also incorporates a dedicated space for a collection of objects from different parts of the world, making it part of a home that reflects the personality of the person who inhabits it.

Here, time works in its favor. The house grows, changes, and reveals new forms of beauty with every season.

The project was developed in close collaboration with Lisa Palmer Gaffney, who would eventually call it home. Her ideas, needs, and personal sensibility were an essential part of the design process. Through architecture, we sought to interpret her vision and translate it into spaces that could evolve alongside her and the surrounding environment.
